Closely associated with and often mistaken for Chapel Hill, Carrboro is actually a community with it's own separate attributes. Initially comprised of small mill homes, Carrboro now claims several large neighborhoods as well as upscale condominiums.

Home to Carr Mill Mall and Weaver Street Market, families from throughout Orange county gather for Jazz Music Brunches and Family Picnics on the green. The Cat's Cradle, a nightclub, has hosted many known musical stars as well as local and regional artists. The downtown section of Carrboro is alive and well, with coffee shops, eclectic restaurants, speciality stores and the Carrboro Community Center.

Though governed by separate mayors and town councils, the public schools for Carrboro and Chapel Hill are combined. Both communities share in the notority that has resulted fom the exceptional testing scores.
